History
Journey Martial Arts was founded by Clayton Johnson, an 8th Degree Black Belt who began his own martial arts journey as a kid fascinated by the discipline — only to experience an environment that was more intimidating than empowering. That early experience became the foundation of everything Journey Martial Arts stands for. After earning his Black Belt and training with an emphasis on understanding both the 'what' and the 'why' of every technique, Clayton began teaching full time. More than 30 years later, he has helped thousands of students across Miller Place, Mount Sinai, Port Jefferson, and the surrounding Long Island communities grow stronger, more confident, and more resilient through Shaolin Kempo Karate.
